ROADMAPUPDATED Nov 7, 2026
The work
ahead.
Where The Lost Galaxy is, what the team is building now, and what comes after. This is a plan, not a promise: details change as testers play. No launch date is set.
Up next · After November 6
Fighting the boss dungeons
Letters, loot and auto drive shipped in 0.4.76. Next is playing each boss fight and tuning it from how it plays.
Fighting the bosses
The boss dungeons are in the world since 0.4.70, but nobody has fought them yet. Next is playing each fight and tuning it from how it plays.
Fixes from 0.4.76
Whatever testers find in the loot window, the camp mailbox and letters, vehicle auto run and auto path, the seat swap, boss sound, music fades and crowd talk.
Planned next
Scale, regions and checking what shipped
After that, the plan turns to bigger worlds and to playing the recent builds properly.
A 100-explorer test
A load test with 100 explorers in one region, and fixes for whatever it finds. The only test so far was ten explorers and ninety bots on a laptop.
More regions online
Rimefall, the frozen moon, comes back first, then Drowned Reach. Only Shorefall and the Highlands are online today.
Playing what shipped
Builds 0.4.36 to 0.4.40 added ship modules, gunboat crews, the deck rail, solo travel and more, and 0.4.43 added multi-story building and four new arcade games. Much of it passed automated checks but has not been played by a person yet. Expect fixes.
Tuning
Many numbers are first guesses: ship modules, ship battles, shop prices, arcade scores and the new games' difficulty. They get adjusted from how they play.
Longer term
Launch scale and new ground
Larger pieces that depend on the load test.
Hardcore servers
A separate world with tougher survival rules, where a fall leaves all but your EVA suit at your body. The setup is built and waits for the load test.
PvP regions
Ship battles between crews and clan territory are built, and come online with the first PvP regions.
A third planet
A new planet with its own resources, biome and boss.
Finished art
Some newer places, such as Drowned Reach, are still blockout shapes waiting for final art.
Ideas on the table
Lightning storms, a shore otter, an aquarium, diving to sunken hulls and own-vehicle nights at the Scrapbowl.
Done
What has shipped
Everything here is in the test build today. The patch notes list each version in full.
Letters, loot and auto drive (0.4.76)
A loot window for kills and crates, STASH NEARBY, a camp mailbox with daily letters from town, vehicle auto run, auto path with a seat swap to the gun at speed, calmer boss warnings and a new Crimson Sovereign voice, music that fades, real crowd talk and deck climbing from the water.
New sounds and a fresh tech tree (0.4.75)
A one-time tech reset with free moves while testing, a Farming branch, hardened alloy from players only, clearer tech cards, cheaper Lantern booths, research swaps, boss warnings and effects, a real Engineer turret, 160 recorded sounds and five music tracks.
Builders, bosses and longer days (0.4.74)
Bosses five times bigger with eleven new moves and a Deep Vault hall, stacked walls, ledges, porch steps and a lift, a build menu like crafting, MOVE for full crates, wedding bands and a kiss, a quarter-length night, more scrap, a food pantry and opt-in nearby voice.
Fish, fires and field kit (0.4.73)
Bandages that work mid fight and slow healing when fed, ponds that water soil and fill a basket, Odile's fish shop and home aquariums, one fire screen that cooks batches, field chests that pack into one item and stand on a ship's deck, ship fuel and respawns, crate labels, SORT and SEND NEARBY, sturdier hooks that stay through death, 36 rebuilt held items, four cheese sizes, and Chris and CoCo back in their own bodies.
Finer settings, breaking plates (0.4.72)
A DETAIL section on the graphics page with a row per setting, boss plates that crack and fall away, crated animals that keep their names, a road stash for each explorer, three dune rally classes, solo travel that keeps a vehicle in one world, and ship crews that can take hits.
A wider view, a fuller wild (0.4.71)
A map that zooms, drags and filters, a camera from first person to a wide view, ledges and lookouts on Shorefall's rim and the Highlands mesas, dressed hunting camps and road ambushes, and neon, string lights and cook fires in town and the hamlets.
The boss dungeons, in the world (0.4.70)
Keeper's Hollow, the Lantern Spore's den and the Storm Regent's Shoal, with Ironbark Bulwarks and Canopy Stalkers. Also grown animal crates, slaughter, plots beside paths, benches you can sit on and rain in short spells.
The open list, worked through (0.4.69)
Saves that survive a bad record, fireplaces you stoke and put out, clan farm plots in the camp menu, furniture that places where it should, tames that swim after you, and item texts that name your own controls.
Boss quests, ahead of their dungeons (0.4.68)
Six quests toward the Vault Keeper, the Lantern Spore and the Storm Regent, Odile's fish errand and the butcher knife. The bosses and their places come with their art.
Holidays, furniture and the art wing (0.4.67)
A fuller Christmas tree and holiday pieces on sale from 27 November, string lights along walls and roof edges, the FUTURE and BRASS & STEAM furniture sets, ten rugs, neon signs and wall screens, fireplaces that burn logs and cook, sixteen outside finishes, and 24 artifacts for the museum's new art wing, which also sells paintings.
Locks and keys (0.4.66)
Vehicles start locked and open to your clan or group from the hold's ACCESS tab, or to the mates you give keys, and a door can lock its building as your house. Furniture goes down from your pack, chairs seat you from stairs and slopes, clan mates farm each other's plots, a hoe untills soil, and you step up low ledges and vault railings.
The testers' list, worked through (0.4.65)
Swings show their wind-up, dodges turn with a ship's deck, sunk gunboats pay XP and count toward bounties, and ships get a medbay, galley, cabin bed and trawler net. Servers save before they stop, wilderness sites keep their stash, far-off animals sleep, the burrower and bosses have new looks, and beds, wardrobes, hearths and rain on tin roofs work as they should.
Readable holograms and patient animals (0.4.64)
Market holograms dimmed and cut to the house fronts, the avenue and the four venues, each beside its door. Animals wait ten unfed days before they wander off, with warnings that name the empty trough and reach clan mates. A Mac crash on joining after a patch is fixed.
Walk-in houses and neon (0.4.63)
The six houses at Lantern Exchange open behind sliding doors onto furnished, lit rooms, and the market gets neon posts, a hologram at every stall and house, more signs, searchlights, drones and neon hum.
The furniture warehouse (0.4.62)
HEARTH & HALL rebuilt as a warehouse of furnished rooms, 40 more pieces for 146 in all, a store menu that fits, and clothing as items you carry, wear and keep in wardrobes and dressers.
HEARTH & HALL (0.4.61)
A furniture store in town: 106 pieces in three sets and 40 floor and wall finishes for your camp, with seats, beds, wardrobes, ranges, lamps and fireplaces that work.
Lantern Exchange after dark (0.4.60)
Steps 3 to 7 in one update: neon signs on every stall and house, a neon gate with a scanner arch, cables with lamps, a hologram lantern, posters, steam and razor wire.
Wet streets (0.4.59)
Step 2 of Lantern Exchange after dark: the market darkens, shines and puddles in the rain and stays damp at night. Stall names sit on lit signs again.
The market, rounded (0.4.58)
Step 1 of Lantern Exchange after dark: rounded houses, stalls and terrace pieces, arched and lit upper windows, barrel roofs on two houses.
Britty and CoCo, touched up (0.4.57)
CoCo stands tall, Britty has both eyes open, and both have softer skin.
Shorefall, repainted (0.4.56)
The market's painted look across the whole island: houses, roads, quays, the coast, the interiors and camp pieces on every planet.
New faces in town (0.4.55)
New bodies for Britty, Chris, CoCo and Christian; Tex Santos busks outside The Slow Fuse and Kittie paints in the clothing store.
The market, rebuilt (0.4.54)
The Lantern Exchange with striped stall tents, shaped house fronts, gate arches, bunting and wood and brass furniture.
One world, one look (0.4.53)
One worn field kit across the town, ships, camps and vehicles, furnished town buildings, dressed residents, new gates and one menu style.
Camps that remember (0.4.52)
Camp creatures keep their levels through a restart, and one wedged vehicle no longer stops a region from saving.
A steadier town (0.4.51)
Upright lamps and signposts, solid town buildings, foundations on slopes, no more joins stuck on CONNECTED, and a town that is lighter to draw.
A town and its camps (0.4.50)
Shorefall's roads, houses, roastery and chapel, creature levels and camps, groups of six, timed crafting, new residents and marriage.
Clean passes (0.4.49)
Shorefall's three passes cut straight through the mountains, and Mac updates arrive as patches again.
No piece limit (0.4.48)
A planet holds as many build pieces as its explorers have materials for, and the updater clears the macOS flag that kept 0.4.47 from opening.
Pick first (0.4.47)
Field training crafts the pick before mining, its cards use the words for your device, and updates arrive as patches.
Easier on the Steam Deck (0.4.46)
Menus fit every screen with a MENU TEXT size, prompts name your controller's buttons, falls of up to two stories no longer hurt, new explorers get field training, and later updates download only what changed.
Two-handed holds (0.4.45)
Picks, the axe, swords, scythe and hunting spear keep wrists aligned and hands clear of the chest. Standing, crouching and swing recovery share the corrected poses.
Slot 1 draws once (0.4.44)
Returning from another hotbar slot draws the pickaxe again. Number keys and D-pad up equip once per press.
Building up, new games and fixes (0.4.43)
Three-level buildings with stairs, hatches and new blocks, a grapple on middle mouse, four new arcade games, shop mirror previews, a two-handed pick and swings you can block, tougher ships and a string of fixes.
Cannon audio (0.4.41)
Beach cannon fire is quieter, shorter in range and no longer piles up.
Ships come alive (0.4.37 to 0.4.40)
Their own hull shapes, deck modules that work, raider gunboats you can sink, convoys, a deck rail that keeps you aboard, and the ability to walk a moving deck.
The road (0.4.38)
Second Wind Motors for used rovers, a mechanic, the hauler truck, the Halfway truck stop, headlights and rebindable keys.
New places (0.4.38 to 0.4.39)
The Loose Change arcade annex, the Scrapbowl derby, a museum, hot springs, a drive-in, and Drowned Reach in solo play.
Combat and the grapple (0.4.36)
Stamina-based fighting, smarter enemies, a grapple for every explorer and four appearance shops.
Skills, the Archive and the arcade (0.4.25 to 0.4.29)
Fifteen skills, core stats, duels, the Shorefall Archive, the Last Word lounge, backpacks and the first Loose Change cabinets.
Regions and vehicles (0.4.15 to 0.4.24)
The Highlands, passes between regions, a zone map, buildable rovers and landers, and a fishing reel you play.
The sea and the heights (0.4.30 to 0.4.35)
Level 60, the free-aim hook, titan groves, sea fishing, the Breakwater reef, wall climbing and guardian bosses with health bars.
Taming, bosses and dungeons (0.4.0 to 0.4.2)
Mounts, world bosses, raid nights, three dungeons and rebuilt explorers.
The foundation (0.2 to 0.3)
Directional combat, crafting, clans, player stalls, homesteads, the casino, eclipses and the telescope.
